Parks and Recreation
Two city parks can be found within Lakewood SC. Trounce Pound is a small park with the pond in the center. Walking trails around the pond make up the park. In the winter months, the pond freezes over offering outdoor ice skating to residents of Lakewood Suburban Centre. Additionally a proposed park to the south of the commercial area called South East Park has been proposed and is currently being developed.

Lakewood SC has commercial development concentrated around the corner of Herold Road and Slimmon Road. At present there is a Shopper's Drug Mart, doctor's office, dental office, salon, tanning parlor and Blockbuster in a strip-mall building, with some room for expansion, as well as a standalone grocery store. Across Slimmon Road, another strip-mall and a bank and a restaurant are being built. In addition, there is an Extra Foods on Herold Road. There are 23 home-based businesses in the neighbourhood.
