Lakewood S.C. is a blend of residential and commercial development. Lakewood SC has commercial development concentrated around the corner of Herold Road and Slimmon Road. At present there is a Shopper's Drug Mart, doctor's office, dental office, salon, tanning parlour in a strip-mall building, with some room for expansion, as well as a standalone grocery store. Across Slimmon Road, another strip-mall and a bank and a restaurant are being built. In addition, there is an Extra Foods on Herold Road. There are a little over 20 home-based businesses in the neighbourhood. The nearest public library serving Lakewood SC is the Cliff Wright branch of the Saskatoon Public Library, which is located at the Lakewood Civic Centre on McKercher Drive. Residents also have access via Taylor Street to the community of Rosewood with a large shopping centre including a grocery store, gas station and other amenities.
Education
There are no schools in Lakewood and students attend schools in the neighbouring community of Lakeridge at either Lakeridge Public Elementary or St. Luke Catholic Elementary School.
Parks and Recreation
There are two parks in Lakewood S.C. Trounce Pond which is a small park with a pond in the centre and surrounding walking trails. During the winter residents can enjoy ice skating on the pond. An additional park has been proposed to the south of the commercial area called South East Park and is currently being developed.
